Named after their inventor, 16th-century Venetian architect Andrea Palladio, Palladian windows are among the most stunning pieces one can add to a home or building. They consist of three parts: a big, arched window at the center and two smaller rectangular windows on each side. They follow the “Palladian motif,” or three-part architectural pieces popular in England in the 1600s and 1700s. Due to their large, Renaissance-era design, Palladian windows are great for equally huge and dramatic structures. They are also called Serlian windows or Venetian windows. |
